1 measuring spoons
1 aluminum foil
- 10 cups day-old bread, cut into cubes
- 2 cups diced apples About 2 medium apples.
- 1 cup raisins
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Butter for greasing the baking dish
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread cubes, diced apples, and raisins. Toss gently to mix the ingredients evenly.
In another mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, brown sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until fully combined.
Pour the egg mixture over the bread mixture in the baking dish. Press the bread down gently to ensure it is soaked in the egg mixture.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and let it sit for 15-30 minutes to allow the bread to absorb the liquid.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes covered with foil, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes until the top is golden and set.
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm, optionally topped with maple syrup or powdered sugar.
