Equipment

  • 1 chef's knife
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 frying pan
  • 1 paper towels
  • 1 serving platter

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
  • 1 cup carrots, julienned
  • 1 cup cucumber, julienned
  • 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8-10 pieces rice paper wrappers

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced beef, garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Mix well and let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes until cooked through. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  • Fill a shallow dish with warm water. Dip one rice paper wrapper into the water for about 10-15 seconds until softened. Remove and place it on a clean, flat surface.
  • On the lower part of the wrapper, place a few basil leaves, followed by some cooked beef, julienned carrots, cucumber, and chopped green onions.
  • Roll the wrapper tightly from the bottom, folding the sides in as you go to secure the filling inside. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  • Arrange the beef rolls on a serving platter and serve them fresh.

Notes

For added crunch, you can include sliced bell peppers or sprouts in the rolls.
Serve with a dipping sauce made of soy sauce, lime juice, and chili for extra flavor.
Ensure all ingredients are prepared and ready before you start assembling the rolls for a smoother rolling process.
