Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced Wash the strawberries before slicing.
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar Adjust according to sweetness preference.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Begin by washing the fresh strawberries under cool running water. Hull them to remove the green tops and slice them into thin pieces.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the sliced strawberries with granulated sugar. Toss gently to coat the strawberries evenly.
  • Add the lemon juice and vanilla extract to the strawberries. Stir gently until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  • Let the mixture sit for about 5 minutes to allow the sugar to dissolve and the juices to release from the strawberries.
  • After resting, give the topping a final stir. It’s now ready to serve or can be stored in the refrigerator until needed.

Notes

This topping can be made a few hours in advance; just keep it covered in the refrigerator.
