Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure your butter is softened to room temperature for best results.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract Optional.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using) to the butter mixture, and mix until well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour and salt to the mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Fill your cookie press with the dough according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Press the cookies onto the prepared baking sheet, making sure to leave about 1 inch between each cookie.
  • If desired, sprinkle the tops with colored sugar or sprinkles for decoration.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Remove cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Make sure your butter is softened to room temperature for best results.
The dough can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week if you want to prepare it in advance.
