Equipment

  • 1 saucepan
  • 1 spoon or spatula
  • 1 measuring cups
  • 1 measuring spoons

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • ΒΌ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  • Begin by washing the strawberries thoroughly under cold water. Hull and quarter them for easy cooking.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the quartered strawberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and water.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir the mixture gently.
  • Once the mixture starts to heat up, bring it to a gentle simmer. Allow it to simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries break down and the sauce thickens slightly.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. You can either leave the sauce chunky or blend it with an immersion blender for a smoother texture.
  • Once cooled, transfer the sauce to a serving bowl or an airtight container for storage.

Notes

This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
For added flavor, consider adding a pinch of vanilla extract or a splash of balsamic vinegar.
This sauce is delicious not only on pancakes but also on ice cream, cheesecake, or waffles.
