Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 Ziploc bag or shallow dish
  • 1 grill
  • 1 set skewers if using

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • to taste fresh herbs (cilantro or parsley) for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, lime juice, minced garlic, honey, smoked paprika, ground cumin, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well combined.
  • Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the marinade, ensuring each shrimp is well coated.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer the shrimp to a Ziploc bag, seal it, and refrigerate for 15-30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  • If using skewers, thread the marinated shrimp onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each shrimp.
  • Place the skewered shrimp or individual shrimp directly on the grill. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the shrimp are pink and opaque. Avoid overcooking.
  • Once cooked, remove the shrimp from the grill and garnish with fresh herbs if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Pair the grilled shrimp with a fresh salad or rice for a complete meal.
You can adjust the marinade spices based on your heat preference by adding red pepper flakes or a bit of hot sauce.
Leftover shrimp can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
