Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 loaf pan (9x5 inches)
  • 1 plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel
  • 1 oven

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups warm water about 110°F/43°C
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 to 10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the flour and salt.
  • Once the yeast mixture is foamy, add it to the flour mixture along with the vegetable oil.
  • Stir until a dough begins to form. Then, knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 to 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  • Place the kneaded dough in a lightly greased bowl. Cover it with plastic wrap or a clean towel. Let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  • Once risen, punch down the dough to release the air. Shape it into a loaf and place it in the greased loaf pan.
  • Cover it again and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
  • Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

To store the bread, wrap it in plastic wrap or store it in an airtight container. It can last for up to a week at room temperature or can be frozen for longer storage.
Add herbs or spices to the dough for additional flavor, such as garlic powder or Italian seasoning.
