  • 1 colander for draining pasta
  • 1 large skillet or frying pan
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients
  

  • 12 ounces pasta Such as spaghetti or penne.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cups cherry tomatoes About 1.5 pounds, halved.
  • 4 cloves garlic Minced.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes Optional.
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves Chopped.
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving Optional.

Instructions
 

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta cooking water before draining the pasta.
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook until the tomatoes are soft and begin to release their juices, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Once the tomatoes are cooked down, add the cooked pasta to the skillet along with the reserved pasta water. Toss everything together until the pasta is well coated with the sauce.
  • Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the chopped fresh basil. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  • Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
