1 Large skillet
1 Wooden spoon
1 set Measuring spoons
- 12 ounces spaghetti
- 6 tablespoons olive oil
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes Adjust to taste.
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- to taste Salt
- to taste Black pepper
- Grated Parmesan cheese Optional, for serving.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, typically about 8-10 minutes.
While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking until the garlic is fragrant and lightly golden, about 2-3 minutes.
Once the pasta is done, reserve about 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti in a colander.
Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the garlic oil. Toss well to coat the pasta evenly.
If the pasta seems dry, add some reserved pasta water a little at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
Toss in the chopped parsley and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Mix well.
Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
You can add vegetables such as spinach or cherry tomatoes for added nutrition.
To make this dish even heartier, consider adding cooked shrimp or grilled chicken.
Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes for your preferred spice level.
