Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 8 slices thick bread (such as brioche or challah)
  • 4 tablespoons Nutella
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for cooking)
  • to taste powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • as needed fresh berries (for garnish, optional)

Instructions
 

  • Spread 1 tablespoon of Nutella on one side of each of 4 slices of bread and top them with the other 4 slices to make two Nutella sandwiches.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until fully combined.
  • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter to melt.
  • Dip each Nutella sandwich in the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.
  • Place the soaked sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove the French toast from the skillet and let them cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar.
  • Serve warm, optionally garnished with fresh berries.

Notes

For a crispy texture, you can use an additional coating of crushed cornflakes on the outside before frying.
Experiment with different spreads or add slices of banana for extra flavor.
Serve with maple syrup for a delightful sweet touch.
