Equipment

  • 1 large skillet
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 measuring spoons
  • 1 chopping board
  • 1 zester optional

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces fish fillets (such as tilapia, cod, or salmon) About 6 ounces each.
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 piece lemon, zested and juiced
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • for garnish fresh parsley, chopped
  • for garnish lemon slices

Instructions

  • Begin by seasoning the fish fillets with salt and pepper on both sides.
  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Once the butter is melted and bubbling, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to brown it.
  • Add the fish fillets to the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  • While the fish is cooking, add the lemon juice and zest to the skillet, allowing it to simmer briefly to marry the flavors.
  • Carefully remove the fish from the skillet and place it on a serving platter. Pour the buttery garlic lemon sauce over the top.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and lemon slices before serving.

Notes

You can substitute the fish for your favorite type, but ensure it cooks within the same time frame.
Serve with a side of steamed vegetables or rice for a complete meal.
