Ingredients
  

  • 12 noodles lasagna
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound sausage Italian or any preferred type
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese Half used in ricotta mixture
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • for cooking tablespoons olive oil

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large pot of salted water, boil the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and sausage, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in the marinara sauce, and simmer for about 10 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, basil, and oregano.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, eggs, and half of the grated Parmesan cheese. Mix until smooth and season with salt and pepper.
  • To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of the baking dish. Place 4 lasagna noodles on top, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, one-third of the mozzarella cheese, and one-third of the remaining meat sauce.
  • Repeat layers: noodles, remaining ricotta mixture, half the remaining meat sauce, and half of the remaining mozzarella cheese.
  • Top with the final layer of noodles, the remaining meat sauce, and the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbling.
  • Once baked, let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

You can customize the filling by adding vegetables like spinach or mushrooms.
This dish can be assembled a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
For a vegetarian version, replace the meat with vegetables or lentils.
