Ingredients
  

  • 8 slices thick-cut bread Such as brioche or challah.
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • to taste tablespoons butter For greasing the pan.
  • to taste servings maple syrup For serving.
  • optional fresh berries For topping.
  • optional sliced bananas For topping.
  • optional powdered sugar For topping.

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and sugar until well combined.
  • Preheat your griddle or frying pan over medium heat and lightly grease it with butter.
  • Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, making sure both sides are well-coated. Allow any excess to drip off.
  • Place the soaked bread slices onto the preheated griddle or frying pan.
  • Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove the cooked French toast from the pan and place it on a plate. Repeat with the remaining slices if necessary.
  • Serve warm, drizzled with maple syrup and topped with additional toppings such as fresh berries or powdered sugar, if desired.

Notes

You can use any type of bread you prefer for this recipe.
For added flavor, try integrating a tablespoon of orange zest into the egg mixture.
Leftover French toast can be stored in the refrigerator and reheated in a toaster or microwave.
