Equipment

  • 1 Instant Pot
  • 1 measuring cups
  • 1 measuring spoons
  • 1 wooden spoon or spatula
  • 4 serving bowls

Ingredients

  • 1 cup steel-cut oats
  • 4 cups water or non-dairy milk Use non-dairy milk for creamier oats.
  • 2 medium apples, cored and diced About 2 cups of diced apples.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup Optional for sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts Walnuts or pecans, optional.

Instructions

  • Rinse the steel-cut oats under cold water in a fine-mesh strainer.
  • Add the rinsed oats, water (or non-dairy milk), diced apples, ground cinnamon, and salt to the Instant Pot. Stir to combine all the ingredients.
  • Close the lid of the Instant Pot, making sure the steam release valve is set to 'Sealing.'
  • Select the 'Manual' or 'Pressure Cook' function and set the timer to 10 minutes at high pressure.
  • Once the cooking time is complete, allow for a natural pressure release for about 10 minutes, then carefully switch the valve to 'Venting' to release any remaining pressure.
  • Open the lid and stir the oats. If desired, stir in maple syrup to add sweetness and top with chopped nuts for added texture.
  • Serve warm in bowls and enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to customize this recipe by adding other fruits like berries or bananas.
If you prefer a creamier texture, use non-dairy milk instead of water.
Leftover oats can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat with a little water or milk to loosen them up.
