- 1 cup steel-cut oats
- 4 cups water or non-dairy milk Use non-dairy milk for creamier oats.
- 2 medium apples, cored and diced About 2 cups of diced apples.
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup Optional for sweetness.
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts Walnuts or pecans, optional.
Rinse the steel-cut oats under cold water in a fine-mesh strainer.
Add the rinsed oats, water (or non-dairy milk), diced apples, ground cinnamon, and salt to the Instant Pot. Stir to combine all the ingredients.
Close the lid of the Instant Pot, making sure the steam release valve is set to 'Sealing.'
Select the 'Manual' or 'Pressure Cook' function and set the timer to 10 minutes at high pressure.
Once the cooking time is complete, allow for a natural pressure release for about 10 minutes, then carefully switch the valve to 'Venting' to release any remaining pressure.
Open the lid and stir the oats. If desired, stir in maple syrup to add sweetness and top with chopped nuts for added texture.
Serve warm in bowls and enjoy!
Feel free to customize this recipe by adding other fruits like berries or bananas.
If you prefer a creamier texture, use non-dairy milk instead of water.
Leftover oats can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat with a little water or milk to loosen them up.
