Equipment

  • 1 non-stick skillet or frying pan
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 measuring cups
  • 1 grater if using block cheese

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread Whole wheat or white.
  • 4 slices ham
  • 4 slices pineapple Fresh or canned, drained.
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter Softened.
  • 1 tablespoon pizza sauce
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions

  • Begin by preheating your non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  • Take two slices of bread and spread 1 tablespoon of the softened butter on one side of each slice.
  • On the unbuttered side of one slice, add a layer of pizza sauce, followed by a slice of mozzarella cheese.
  • Place two slices of ham on top of the cheese, followed by two slices of pineapple.
  • Add another slice of mozzarella cheese on top and then cover with the second slice of bread, ensuring the buttered side is facing outward.
  • Repeat the process to make the second sandwich.
  • Place the sandwiches in the preheated skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted. Press down slightly with a spatula for an even cook.
  • Once cooked, remove the sandwiches from the skillet, let them cool for a minute, and then slice in half before serving.

Notes

You can add some crushed red pepper flakes for a bit of heat if desired.
Feel free to substitute the ham for turkey or Canadian bacon for a different flavor profile.
Serve with additional pizza sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy your Hawaiian pizza grilled cheese!
