Equipment

  • 1 air fryer
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 fork or whisk
  • 1 shallow dish
  • 1 tongs
  • 1 paper towels

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dill pickle slices About 12 oz, drained.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper Optional for extra heat.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Preferably panko for extra crunch.
  • as needed spray cooking spray
  • as desired serving ranch dressing For serving, optional.

Instructions

  • Start by draining the dill pickle slices and patting them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  • In a shallow dish, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, crack the eggs and beat them until well combined.
  • Place the breadcrumbs in another shallow dish.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  • Take each pickle slice, dip it into the flour mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated, then shake off any excess.
  • Next, dip the floured pickle slice into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess egg to drip off.
  • Finally, coat the pickle slice in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere. Place the coated pickles on a plate.
  • Once all pickle slices are coated, spray the air fryer basket lightly with cooking spray.
  • Arrange the coated pickles in a single layer in the basket, making sure they do not overlap.
  • Spray the tops of the pickles lightly with cooking spray to promote browning.
  • Cook in the air fryer for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove from the air fryer and place on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
  • Serve warm with ranch dressing for dipping, if desired.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, you can replace the regular breadcrumbs with gluten-free breadcrumbs if needed.
Experiment with different spices in the flour mixture to customize the flavor.
Storing leftovers in an airtight container will keep them for up to 2 days in the refrigerator, but they are best enjoyed fresh.
