Ingredients
  

  • 10 slices day-old French bread or brioche, cut into cubes
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup for serving
  • as needed powdered sugar for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubes of French bread or brioche and set aside.
  • In another mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes and gently fold them in with a rubber spatula until all the bread is soaked.
  • Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and puffy.
  • Once baked, let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
  • Serve warm, drizzled with maple syrup and dusted with powdered sugar.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add fresh fruit like blueberries or strawberries to the mixture before baking.
This dish can be prepared the night before. Just cover it and place it in the refrigerator. Bake it in the morning for an easy breakfast!
