Equipment

  • 1 large skillet or frying pan
  • 1 mixing spoon
  • 1 measuring cups
  • 1 measuring spoons
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 cutting board

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh spinach Washed and chopped.
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 small onion Finely chopped.
  • 2 cloves garlic Minced.
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Salt To taste.
  • Pepper To taste.

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion to the skillet and sauté for about 3-4 minutes, or until translucent.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute, making sure not to burn it.
  • Add the chopped spinach to the skillet, stirring well to combine. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, until the spinach is wilted and most of the liquid has evaporated.
  • Lower the heat and pour in the heavy cream. Stir well to combine.
  • Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until melted and creamy.
  • Add the ground nutmeg, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Continue to heat for another 2-3 minutes until the mixture is warmed through and slightly thickened.
  • Remove from heat and serve warm.

Notes

If using frozen spinach, make sure to thaw and drain it well before using.
For a lighter version, you can substitute milk for the heavy cream, though the consistency will be different.
This dish can be prepared ahead of time and reheated before serving. Just add a splash of cream if it thickens too much while stored.
