Ingredients
  

  • 8 slices thick bread (such as brioche or challah)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup chocolate milk
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder For a richer flavor, you can use dark chocolate cocoa powder.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for cooking)
  • to taste powdered sugar (for serving)
  • to taste chocolate syrup (for drizzling, optional)
  • to taste fresh berries (for serving, optional)

Instructions
 

  • In the shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, chocolate milk, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and sugar until well combined and smooth.
  • Preheat the non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add a small amount of butter to coat the surface.
  • Dip each slice of bread into the chocolate mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side. Make sure the bread is well-coated but not overly soggy.
  • Place the soaked slices on the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  • Remove the French toast from the skillet and keep warm on a plate.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining bread slices, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.
  • Serve the Chocolate French Toast warm, dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with chocolate syrup if desired. Add fresh berries on the side for extra flavor.

Notes

For a richer flavor, you can use dark chocolate cocoa powder.
This recipe is also delicious when topped with whipped cream or sliced bananas.
You can make a larger batch by doubling the ingredients if serving more.
