Equipment

  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 parchment paper
  • 1 microwave-safe bowl
  • 1 spoon or spatula
  • 1 fork (optional)
  • 1 refrigerator

Ingredients

  • 12 pieces fresh strawberries About 1 pound.
  • 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips or chocolate bars
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil Optional, for smoother chocolate.
  • as needed optional sprinkles or crushed nuts For decoration.

Instructions

  • Prepare your baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper to prevent the chocolate-covered strawberries from sticking.
  • Rinse the strawberries under cold water and gently dry them with a paper towel. Ensure they are completely dry, as water can cause the chocolate to seize.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using). Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
  • Hold each strawberry by the stem, dip it into the melted chocolate, and rotate it to coat thoroughly. Allow the excess chocolate to drip off.
  • Place the dipped strawberries onto the prepared baking sheet. If desired, sprinkle with sprinkles or crushed nuts before the chocolate hardens.
  • Once all strawberries are coated, place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes, or until the chocolate is set.
  • Serve the chocolate-covered strawberries chilled and enjoy!

Notes

For a variation, you can use white chocolate or dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet.
You can melt the chocolate using a double boiler if you prefer not to use a microwave.
Chocolate-covered strawberries are best enjoyed the same day they are made, but they can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two days.
