Equipment

  • 1 Bundt cake pan 10-cup capacity
  • 2 Mixing bowls Large enough for mixing ingredients
  • 1 Electric mixer For beating the batter
  • 1 Rubber spatula For folding and mixing
  • 1 set Measuring cups For measuring dry and liquid ingredients
  • 1 set Measuring spoons For measuring small quantities of ingredients
  • 1 Toothpick or cake tester For checking the doneness of the cake

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-cup bundt cake pan to prevent sticking.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
  • Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes until well combined.
  • Stir in the boiling water, mixing until the batter is smooth (the batter will be thin).
  • Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan, filling it about 2/3 of the way full.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 50-55 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick in the center of the cake; it should come out clean.
  • Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes. Then, carefully invert the cake onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Once cooled, you may dust the cake with powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate ganache if desired.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding chocolate chips or nuts to the batter.
The cake can be made a day ahead and kept covered at room temperature.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
