1 mixing bowl
1 whisk or electric mixer
1 9x9 inch baking pan
1 parchment paper (optional)
1 spatula
1 knife for cutting brownies
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips optional
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easier removal.
In a mixing bowl, melt the butter in the microwave or on the stovetop until completely melted.
Whisk in the granulated sugar until well combined, then add the eggs one at a time, making sure to mix well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix the batter. Fold in the chocolate chips if using.
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once cooled, cut them into squares.
For a richer flavor, you can add chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans into the batter.
These brownies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
Serve them warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat!
