  • 1 9x13-inch baking pan
  • multiple mixing bowls
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 rubber spatula
  • 1 set measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 electric mixer (optional)
  • 1 parchment paper (optional)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups pecan halves

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • In a large mixing bowl, melt the butter in the microwave or on the stovetop. Once melted, add the granulated sugar and brown sugar, whisking until combined.
  • Incorporate the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  • Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the corn syrup, brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract for the topping until smooth.
  • Stir in the pecan halves, ensuring they are well coated.
  • Pour the pecan mixture over the brownie base, spreading it out evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the topping is set and a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
  • Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares and serving.
  • For added flavor, consider toasting the pecans before adding them to the topping.
  • These brownies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerated for up to a week.
  • Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra special dessert!
