Equipment

  • 1 large pot
  • 1 colander
  • 1 medium saucepan
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 wooden spoon
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 serving bowl

Ingredients

  • 300 grams pasta (e.g., penne or fusilli)
  • 50 grams unsalted butter
  • 50 grams all-purpose flour
  • 500 milliliters milk
  • 200 grams shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 100 grams grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Boil water in a large pot and add a pinch of salt. Once boiling, add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the flour and whisk continuously for about 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
  • Gradually pour in the milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Continue to whisk until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Lower the heat and add the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese to the sauce. Stir until the cheeses are fully melted and combined.
  • Add the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure the flavors are evenly distributed.
  • Add the cooked pasta to the cheese sauce and stir gently until the pasta is fully coated in the creamy sauce.
  • Serve immediately in a bowl, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Feel free to add cooked vegetables, like spinach or broccoli, to the pasta for added nutrition and flavor.
You can adjust the cheese types based on your preference; for a stronger flavor, consider adding blue cheese or cheddar.
This dish can be prepared ahead of time and reheated on the stove with a splash of milk to loosen the sauce.
