- 2 lbs russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese You can use any cheese you prefer, but cheddar creates a wonderful combination.
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese You can use any cheese you prefer, but Parmesan creates a wonderful combination.
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme optional
- 1 tablespoon butter for greasing the baking dish
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter.
In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and thyme (if using). Whisk well to combine.
Arrange a layer of sliced potatoes at the bottom of the baking dish, overlapping the slices slightly.
Pour a portion of the cream mixture over the sliced potatoes, followed by a handful of cheddar cheese and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
Repeat the layering process until all the ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of cream and cheese on top.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
