Equipment

  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 parchment paper
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 rolling pin
  • 1 pastry brush
  • 1 knife or pizza cutter

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water 110°F
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly and frothy.
  • Stir in the olive oil, flour, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.

  • Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle, about ½ inch thick.
  • Cut the dough into 8 strips using a knife or pizza cutter.
  • In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, oregano, and parsley. Brush this mixture over each breadstick.
  • Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses generously on top of the breadsticks.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, feel free to add red pepper flakes before baking if you like a little heat.
Serve these breadsticks warm for the best texture and taste!
They pair well with marinara sauce for dipping.
