Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 parchment paper
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 cheese grater
  • 1 oven
  • 1 frying pan

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese about 100g
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese about 50g
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour about 120g
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup milk about 60ml
  • Oil for frying optional, if frying instead of baking

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.
  • Mix the dry ingredients into the cheese until well incorporated.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and milk together. Pour this mixture into the cheese and flour mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
  • Using your hands, shape small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) from the dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake the cheesy balls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown on the outside.
  • If you prefer frying them, heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat and fry the balls until golden, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  • Remove from the oven or oil and let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

You can add chopped herbs or spices to the cheese mixture for added flavor.
Serve with marinara sauce, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.
These cheesy balls can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven for best results.
