- 2 large apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cream cheese softened
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs optional for crunch
- to taste Fresh parsley for garnish, optional
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Wash and core the apples. Cut them into round slices about 1/4 inch thick.
In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded cheddar cheese, cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix well until smooth.
Arrange the apple slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush both sides lightly with olive oil.
Take about a teaspoon of the cheese mixture and place it on the center of each apple slice. If desired, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top for added texture.
Bake the apple slices in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the apples are slightly softened.
Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired before serving.
Experiment with different types of cheese for varied flavors, such as gouda or pepper jack.
For a sweeter twist, drizzle some honey or maple syrup on top after baking.
These bites can be served warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
