  • 1 whisk
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 set measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 serving plates

Ingredients

  • 8 slices thick bread (such as brioche or challah)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add the brown sugar to the pan, spreading it evenly across the surface.
  • Allow the brown sugar to heat until it begins to melt and bubble, creating a caramel-like sauce.
  • Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well-coated. Let any excess mixture drip off.
  • Place the coated bread slices in the skillet on top of the melting brown sugar. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and caramelized.
  • Once cooked, carefully transfer the French toast to serving plates. Drizzle with maple syrup before serving.
  • For added flavor, you can sprinkle some chopped nuts or fresh fruit on top before serving.
  • If you prefer a less sweet version, reduce the amount of sugar in the recipe.
