Caprese Sliders

Caprese Sliders are a delightful twist on traditional sliders, combining the flavors of fresh mozzarella, ripe tomatoes, basil, and balsamic glaze between soft mini buns. These sliders make for the perfect appetizer or light meal.

Equipment

  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 grill pan or skillet
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 small bowl

Ingredients
  

  • 6 mini slider buns whole grain Preferably whole grain.
  • 6 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese Sliced.
  • 1 large ripe tomato Sliced.
  • 12 leaves fresh basil
  • 3 tablespoons balsamic glaze
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your grill pan or skillet over medium heat.
  • Slice the mini slider buns in half.
  • Drizzle a small amount of olive oil on the cut sides of the buns, and season with salt and pepper.
  • Place the buns cut side down on the grill pan and toast for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • On the bottom half of each toasted bun, layer a slice of mozzarella cheese, a slice of tomato, and two basil leaves.
  • Drizzle a teaspoon of balsamic glaze on top of the basil leaves for added flavor.
  • Place the top half of the bun on each slider.
  • If desired, heat the completed sliders in the grill pan for an additional minute to warm them through.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to add a slice of avocado or a sprinkle of oregano for extra flavor.
These sliders can be made ahead of time and assembled just before serving.
You can also serve them with extra balsamic glaze drizzled over for a decorative touch.
