Ingredients
  

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 8 slices brioche bread
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter for cooking
  • to taste maple syrup for serving
  • to taste powdered sugar optional, for dusting
  • to taste fresh berries optional, for serving

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, sugar, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
  • Pour the mixture into a shallow dish for easy dipping.
  • Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter, allowing it to melt and coat the surface.
  • Dip each slice of brioche bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are soaked but not overly saturated.
  • Place the soaked bread slices onto the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Add more butter to the skillet as needed and continue cooking in batches if necessary.
  • Serve warm with a drizzle of maple syrup, a dusting of powdered sugar, and fresh berries if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a splash of orange zest or a pinch of nutmeg to the egg mixture.
Leftover French toast can be stored in the refrigerator and reheat nicely in a toaster or oven.
