- 4 medium sweet potatoes About 2 lbs.
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper Optional for extra heat.
Start by peeling the sweet potatoes and cutting them into thin strips, about ¼ inch thick.
Place the sweet potato strips in a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and toss until evenly coated.
Add paprika, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using) to the bowl. Toss again to ensure that all the fries are well seasoned.
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
Once preheated, place the sweet potato fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd them. You may need to do this in batches.
Cook the fries for 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking process to ensure even cooking.
After 15 minutes, check for doneness. If they are not crispy enough, you can cook them for an additional 2-5 minutes until desired crispiness is reached.
Remove the fries from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving.
For extra crunch, consider soaking the cut sweet potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes before drying and cooking.
Feel free to adjust the seasoning to your taste or experiment with other spices like chili powder or cumin.
Serve the fries with your favorite dipping sauce such as ketchup, aioli, or tahini.
