Add the grated onion, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to the bowl with the potatoes. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly combined.
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
If desired, line the air fryer basket with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Spread the potato mixture evenly in the air fryer basket, ensuring it's without too much overlap for even cooking.
Air fry the hash browns for 10 minutes, then pause to shake or flip them to ensure they cook evenly. Return them to the air fryer for an additional 10 minutes until they are crispy and golden brown.
Once done, remove the hash browns from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes. Serve warm.
